Auction FAQs and What to Expect
What is the PTA Auction?
Each year the PTA holds the event to support our children’s educational experience, rally behind our teachers and staff, and build our community. Funds raised on this night support things like social and emotional learning, tutoring, classroom resources, staffing, the arts and more.
Why do we do a fundraising auction?
The short answer is funds raised by the auction help close the gap between district funding and the actual cost of the education students receive at North Beach. Funds raised at the auction help ensure there are adequate means to support the basic needs of our teachers, facility improvements, and enrichment programs for our students, all of which sustain and enhance our school year after year. Because of the auction, NB PTA is able to provide: technology services, tutors, author visits, teacher mini-grants, and so much more. These programs – which inspire our children today – help our children explore who they are right now and think about who they want to become tomorrow.
Also, we have an auction because it is a ton of fun! It’s a great evening for parents/guardians and staff members to connect and celebrate as a community!
How do I pick up my silent auction items?
Winning bids can be picked up on outside the main entrance of North Beach Elementary at school pickup March 18th, 19th or 20th. If you're not able to pick up your items at that time or you have questions, please contact auction@northbeachpta.org. Please note, the NB PTA is unable to mail items.
Is there a theme and do I have to dress up?
We encourage you to dress up in the spirit of this year's auction theme: PROM! Put on your dresses, suits and fancy footwear, or whatever Prom means to you. Really, anything goes and each auction usually has a mix of it all. Dress however you will feel most comfortable and have the most fun!
I want to come to the auction, but we are new to the school, and we don't really know anyone? How are seats assigned?
The auction is a GREAT way to get to know the community better! We encourage you to reach out to other families in your student's class and invite others to join you at your table. If that is not possible, you will be assigned a seat—and we promise, everyone you sit with will be awesome!
I can't attend the auction, and don't have an item to donate, but I would still like to support the fundraising, is that possible?
Yes! There are lots of ways to give, even if you don't attend! In addition to the evening auction, we will also run an online silent auction. The online silent auction will be held from March 10th-15th. Everyone is welcome to participate! You can also make a direct, and fully tax deductible, cash contribution to the auction through the online silent auction portal.
Can I bring guests?
Yes! Feel free to invite grandparents, neighbors, friends to join you. The more the merrier when it comes to supporting our school.
Will childcare be provided?
No. The auction is an adults-only event. Line up a sitter and make it a grown-up night out. You've earned this!
Will there be vegan and/or gluten-free food available?
Yes! We will have a vegan/gluten-free option available on the menu.
How does payment work?
All sales are final and there are no exchanges or refunds. (Consider it a donation to the school!) We will gladly accept your payment by currency, check, VISA, Amex, Discover or MasterCard. Payment in full is mandatory at the auction. Checks should be made payable to “North Beach PTA.” Winning bidders can pay for their purchases with the cashier at the close of the live auction or sign up for Express Checkout at registration. All auction items will be awarded to one purchaser only. The top bid for an auction item will not be split among bidders who may have agreed to pay a portion of the top bid amount. A purchaser who wishes to split the payment for an auction item must collect the individual payments from the other bidder(s).
